Software and growth systems for small teams
Custom API integration development
Your CRM, booking system and finance tools each work well on their own. The gaps between them create the work: copying customer details, checking whether an update arrived and repairing duplicates. I build integrations for defined business workflows, with visible errors and a practical way to recover when a service is unavailable.
Automate a workflow — from £1,200 for a bounded scope. Requirements and acceptance checks determine the quote.
What the finished solution should accomplish
Connect existing business systems with mapped data, controlled updates and recoverable failures, so your team can stop re-entering the same information.
What this could look like in practice
For example, an accepted proposal could create a customer record, open an onboarding task and notify operations. Retrying the event should not create a second customer or task. Each step needs a recorded outcome so someone can see whether the workflow finished, rather than guessing from an email notification.
Decisions to make before building
First verify available APIs, existing native connectors, account-plan restrictions and permission requirements. Agree the system of record for each field and rules for conflicts. Design for duplicated events, rate limits, expired access and changes made while a connection is offline. A successful request is only one part of a working integration.
When a simpler option is enough
A native integration is the first option to inspect. Automation platforms can cover simple triggers and low-volume mappings without a custom application. Bespoke code earns its place when transformation rules, reconciliation, access boundaries or recovery requirements exceed what those options can maintain clearly.
An initial scope could include
- API feasibility review and field mapping
- Integration with retries and duplicate protection
- Error reporting, replay procedure and handover
How we would check the work
- Replay the same event without duplicating records
- Simulate a disconnected account and recover it
- Compare source and destination totals after a backfill
Can you connect any two systems?
That depends on the access each provider permits. Some plans restrict endpoints or data exports. I check the supported options before quoting and explain where a manual export or a different workflow is the more reliable route.
Scope, ownership and working together
You work directly with Joel from discovery through implementation. We agree the outcome, exclusions and acceptance checks before a build. You receive access to the code, deployment and handover documentation. Hosting, third-party services and ongoing support are identified separately; owning the code does not make operating costs disappear.
Automate a workflow — from £1,200 for a bounded scope. Requirements and acceptance checks determine the quote. Permissions, migration, source-system access and the number of workflows affect scope. Hosting, maintenance and further milestones are agreed separately. Smaller extensions to existing infrastructure can receive a smaller quote.
