Software and growth systems for small teams
SEO strategy for small B2B businesses
Publishing more content can make a website bigger without bringing a single suitable enquiry. For a small service business, the starting point is the buyer’s problem: what they need fixed, what they are ready to pay for and what evidence would make them trust you. I turn that into a focused search and landing-page plan.
SEO reviews and implementation are scoped separately.
What the finished solution should accomplish
Build an SEO plan around valuable customer problems, distinct search intent and enquiries your small B2B business can realistically serve.
What this could look like in practice
A consultancy selling a specialist implementation service might prioritise searches about replacing a failing workflow over a broad educational term. Research would compare the actual results, likely buyer and available proof before deciding whether a new page is justified. A high volume estimate alone would not settle that choice.
Decisions to make before building
Agree your minimum viable engagement, geography, sales process and exclusions. Review existing queries and enquiries before proposing new topics. Group terms by the task the searcher needs to complete; one page can cover several phrases when the intent is the same. Set a measurement baseline and connect landing-page performance to qualified opportunities.
When a simpler option is enough
If nobody searches for the problem in recognisable terms, referrals, partnerships or direct outreach may be more productive. If your existing pages already attract the right visitors, improve the offer and enquiry journey before expanding the content footprint. SEO is an investment with uncertain timing, not an immediate replacement for every acquisition channel.
An initial scope could include
- Buyer-problem map and researched topic shortlist
- Page ownership plan and prioritised implementation backlog
- Measurement plan for enquiries and lead quality
How we would check the work
- Check result intent for each proposed page
- Identify an owner for overlapping topics
- Review enquiries as well as impressions and clicks
Do you also write and build the landing pages?
That can be included as a separate implementation scope. Strategy produces the rationale and priorities first. The next phase can cover copy, page templates, technical changes and analytics using the site you already have.
Scope, ownership and working together
You work directly with Joel from discovery through implementation. We agree the outcome, exclusions and acceptance checks before a build. You receive access to the code, deployment and handover documentation. Hosting, third-party services and ongoing support are identified separately; owning the code does not make operating costs disappear.
SEO engagement pricing follows the review and implementation scope. Rankings and enquiry volumes cannot be guaranteed.
