Software and growth systems for small teams
SEO contractor for in-house teams and agencies
The short answer
Bring me in as a contract SEO specialist when your team needs hands-on search expertise for a launch, migration or growth push without a permanent hire. I work inside your tools and codebase, cover technical SEO, programmatic pages and AEO, and leave documentation behind. Engagements run on agreed booked days, from London or remotely.
Permanent SEO hires take months to recruit, and agencies often deliver recommendations rather than changes. A contractor sits between the two: a specialist who joins your channels, works in your repository and reports into your team for as long as the work needs. I am a London-based engineer who has grown my own SaaS products through organic search, so I handle both the analysis and the implementation.

What the finished solution should accomplish
Add senior SEO capacity for a defined period, with agreed priorities, shipped changes and a handover your team can continue from.
What this could look like in practice
A product team planning a site migration might book me to map redirects, protect existing rankings and verify the move in Search Console. A marketing team might use a block of days to launch a programmatic page set built around customer use cases. An agency might bring me in to implement technical fixes on a client site where its own team lacks engineering capacity.
Decisions to make before building
Agree the goal and what proves it was met: a clean migration, a page set published and indexed, or a fixed list of technical issues resolved. Confirm access to Search Console, analytics and the codebase or CMS. Decide the reporting rhythm, who approves changes and how many days per week the work needs. Rate and dates are agreed before booking.
When a simpler option is enough
If you need SEO ownership for years, a permanent hire builds that knowledge inside the business. If the work is purely editorial, a content specialist may suit better. If you need PR, paid search and SEO running together, a full-service agency may coordinate them more easily. A contractor fits best for a defined push with clear priorities.
An initial scope could include
- Hands-on technical SEO, page building or AEO work in your existing stack
- Weekly progress updates against the agreed priorities
- Search Console and analytics reporting on the work delivered
- Documentation and a handover so your team can continue
How we would check the work
- Agree acceptance criteria for each priority before work starts
- Verify shipped changes with URL Inspection and live checks
- Review impressions, clicks and indexed pages against the starting baseline
Can you work through a recruitment agency or as a sub-contractor?
Yes. I can contract directly, through a recruitment agency, or as a sub-contractor to an SEO or development agency. The working arrangement, confidentiality and who owns the client relationship are agreed before the engagement starts.
What do you need on the first day?
Access to Search Console, analytics and the codebase or CMS, plus a named person who can approve changes. With those in place, the first days go on establishing a baseline and confirming priorities rather than waiting for logins.
Scope, ownership and working together
You work directly with Joel from discovery through implementation. We agree the outcome, exclusions and acceptance checks before a build. You receive access to the code, deployment and handover documentation. Hosting, third-party services and ongoing support are identified separately; owning the code does not make operating costs disappear.
Contract development is billed by agreed booked days, with the rate confirmed before booking. Confirm the goal, working arrangements, duration and review process before the engagement. Extensions and post-contract support are agreed separately.
